My other purchases and my "Mystic Light " Shawl

This is roving I bought to spin up for a wild pair of socks.

I bought this fibre because I couldn't resist the colours ............................. they are gorgeous.

Some more sock yarn .................. Your can never have enough sock yarn.......... right!!!!!!!!

This is the first clue done for the " Mystic Light Shawl" KAL. This yarn is a re-cycled yarn composed of 38% wool, 35% rayon, 15% nylon, 10% silk, 2% cashmere. It is lovely and soft. The colour is not right in the photo as it is really brighter green. It makes me think of the sunlight on spring leaves.

I am starting to plan what I need to take with me on the weekend as I am going to a quilting retreat Thursday to Sunday. I need extra time to find everything. It will be nice to have a few days without someone asking me to find something, get them something or do something for them ............ no meals to prepare , no dishes to do, no house to clean. I can't wait.

my new stash additions

This is the wool/silk/alpaca fibre I won at Fibre fest. It is one of those bags you put your hand in and can't get it out so the bag has to go home with you ............................. LOL.................... my DD just rolls her eyes when I say things like this but what does she know. She doesn't spin.

This is some of the fibre I bought on the retreat. I am attracted by colour.................. can you tell. From left to right there is (1) wool/silk/angora, (2 )merino to ply with some I already have that is rather tweedy, (3) more of #1 (4) hand-dyed super-wash merino with some nylon to spin for socks (5) flax.

This was my gift from the gift exchange. The mug has gone into the bag I take to guild meetings so I remember to take one.

This is the lovely case Doris made and it has my circular needles in it. Doris is a really talented, lovely, generous woman.

I still have a couple of this to photograph so will add more pictures in the next couple of days.

Wonderful weekend

The Langely Weavers and Spinners Guild hosted a retreat at Timberline Ranch in Maple Ridge............. it was great fun. Lots of good food, good friendship and laughter.
I bought more fibre that I really didn't need but oh I WWAAAAAAAANNNNTTTTTEEDD it.

I went with Susan and Sybil and came home with Gail and Sharon. It was nice to get to know some of the Gals better and share knowledge and tips.
There were 3 workshops:-
"Beading" with Denise ............... I now have a lovely blue bracelet
"Spindling" with Lynne ............I joined in even though I know how to spindle, you never know what you might learn .
"Plying for Colour" with Krista ............... I have to finish this but it is really neat.
Everyone won a door prize .............I got one of Doris's needle cases. It is lovely and now holds all my circular needles. Thanks again Doris. Lynne from Knitopia gave everyone two balls of sock yarn ...... these will be for me.
My gift from the gift exchange was a lovely sheep mug with FIBRE in it. To top it all off ....................... I won the 50/50 draw .......................... can you guess what I did with it????????? Maryann and I split a beautiful lambs fleece. There is only ONE PROBLEM .................. where do I put it...........LOL. I guess it will go with the fibre I purchased at "Fibre Fest" the previous weekend. I also won a door prize there, some merino/silk/alpaca fibre to spin.

I can't believe how lucky I have been. I don't usually win things but I am really going to enjoy my new fibre..........

I FOUND THE KNIVES

I have been moving them almost everyday since we moved in. There was a very large gift bag in the laundry room that contained assorted last minute items from the move. There was a box in it that I thought contained more of Bill's stuff. Every time I went out the back door I would move this bag over in front of the dryer. When I went to use the washer or dryer I would move the bag back over in front of the back door. Today I decided to take the stuff out of this bag and get it out of the way...........I have only been moving it back and forth for a MONTH now.......................... so I pull out this long skinny box and think ...... now what the heck is this ..................... something else he bought on e-bay right........................WRONG...........I turn it over to look at the other side of the box and it says......................... KNIVES, VERY SHARP.......................... Do I feel foolish.
Haven't done too much unpacking this week as we have Shelby staying with us. This having to get up in the morning, make breakfast right away and make her lunch is different. I am glad I don't have to do that every day ........... been there , done that ................ for many years. She is definitely her mother's child and just as stubborn. That must come from the male side of the family....... not me................LOL.
DD#1 is feeling somewhat better but still sore. Haven't heard the CT scan results maybe tomorrow.
Off to Fibre Fest this Saturday............ I don't need any more fibre..........I don't need any more fibre......I don't need any more fibre.............. BUT .It doesn't hurt to look and fondle.
Went to Wednesday Night Sock Knitting, I am still working on the same pair of socks that I was 2 weeks ago, Lovely Opal yarn in soft, not quite pastel colours.
Well it is now 11:15 p.m. I probably should go to bed.

MORE BOOKS

My Darling Sister sent me two books (belated Birthday present), one knitting, one weaving. She worked in the Library until her retirement on Friday and has sent me the weaving books the library discontinued.................. 11 books and 5 Handwoven magazines. ................................. Sisters are great people ( so are brothers) and I am blessed with 2 of each. Mind you I didn't think I was all that blessed growing up. My brother Bob sounded like me before his voice changed............................ He would answer the phone and if it was for me he would just pretend he was me until they caught him out on something............. What a brat he was.

Well I haven't written anything for a while as life is still crazy around here. DH is much better .................his leg is still sore but the infection is all gone. Now he is annoyed because he tires so easily. I tell him that's normal but does he listen to me...............................duh no I am just a wife ............................. never mind that I worked as a Physio for 40 years. He asks the Dr. about being so tire and feeling weak ....................Dr. laughed and said "I will give you a list" and proceeded to do so. NOW he understands because THE DOCTOR told him.................

DD #1 has a disc lesion in her neck with arm pain etc as well as pneumonia ............. so I have been taking her to Dr. appointments , CT scan, etc. Her friends have been taking turns looking after her.

The house is still a mess and still ....................................... NO KNIVES.............................. at this point only God knows where they are and he isn't telling me. I am not even feeling homicidal most days. I have sorted all the boxes in my craft room according to where they need to go . I am going to convince DH to put his tools and stuff away so that will clear more space.

DD#2 has gone to the Island to work for a week so we have DGD #2, aka ......... Shelby ................ we will have a week of making lunches, taking child to and from school and doing homework. I am returning DJ , the family dog to DD#1 today as well as getting juice etc for her .

This is my yarn for the "Mystic light KAL"

I love to shop in the 2nd hand stores and this is my latest find. The navy and the periwinkle are wool but I am not sure what the multicoloured yarn is, so I will have to do some testing. It is lovely soft yarn whatever it is.
