Life in Regina

Well I am having a great time here. Yesterday morning it was 30 below but today it is only -10. Liz let me take her car yesterday and I went touring. I did a bit of shopping and then went to the Golden Willow shop. What a great place all kinds of fibre and lovely yarns.

I had to have a Tabachek lace spindle ................... I don't have one and you just shouldn't go through life without a Tabachek spindle. Then of course I needed some fibre as I didn't have any with me. I bought a small package of multicoloured BFL and some silk waste.

I found some yellow sock yarn that I just had to have for this pattern I am going to make for me .......... I don't have any yellow sock yarn. Honest I don't and this is just plain yellow in my favorite shade. Then there was the book "Latvian Mittens" and the Ladybug hat and bag plus the lovely golden yarn for a scarf.

Lunch was at this little Thai restaurant, You got this big plate of food and another plate of rice for $7.98. I couldn't even eat it all. Boy was it good ........ I would definitely go there again. After lunch I went to the other yarn shop but they didn't really have anything I wanted except a couple of balls of sock yarn ............................ You can never have too much sock yarn.......... right.

After shopping for something for DH and DS I went back to the Golden Willow and sat there to knit and visit until I had to pick up my DIL. We had spaghetti for supper and then looked at photo albums.

Today I did nothing but a little knitting. Then Liz's folks took us out for dinner which was really nice. Florence (Liz's Mom) is going to come by and take me for coffee one day. That will be nice. Well that's it for today. Liz and I are going to sit down and drink some port before she goes to bed.

Lazy day

It was a very lazy day today. Last night we went and saw Twilight. Let's just say it is a low budget movie. When we came out of the theater it was 30 below. I knew that before we checked ........................ my body remembered that feel.... bbbburrrrrrrr
I don't remember what time we all went to bed but it was earlier than 3:00 am (that was Saturday or should I say Sunday).
Today Che left for work about 3:00 pm and I soaked in their huge bath tub with all the jets going. I just lay back and read my book. Except for getting water all over when I turned the jets on as there as 4 jets behind me ..........

Liz and I had soup and sandwiches for supper and then watched "Mama Mia". It was very good I could watch that again. Liz has this funny orange cat named Barney who doesn't meow but squeaks like a mouse when he wants something. He is very affectionate though.
Tomorrow I am driving Liz to work so I can have her car for the day. I am going to one of the wool shops , maybe two just depending on how things go.
I have made two pairs of mitts, one for Liz and one for Rhyann (her DGD). Oh Yes I finished a pair of fingerless gloves that I think are going to be for me. I have made myself three pairs so far but end up giving them away.
I am loving the bright sunny days and don't really mind the cold.................... IT IS NOT RAINING.
We may go to Roae Cottage farm on the weekend but don't know if I should tell Dotty. I don't know if I have enough money or enough luggage to bring back the things she may want as she apparently has a list.
Well that's it for tonight as I have to go to bed at a decent hour as I have to get up at 7:00 am............. not something I am used to lately.

I am here

Well I am in Regina with my son and spouse and the weather is lovely. Only 25 below with a little wind. The sky is a lovely clear blue and I forgot my sun glasses. No photos yet they may have to wait until I get home. Went to Chapters today but haven't found the wool stores yet. Next week I will check out the shops when everyone has to go to work.

I AM PACKED

Unbelievable as it may be I am all packed to go to Regina TOMORROW................... DH wanted to know if I was getting excited ???????????? What do you think?................. It is 5:50 am and I am up drinking cocoa and writing in my blog ..... ......................... I can't sleep I am so excited.
I managed to fit in everything I wanted to take for Che and Liz and still managed to take clothes for me. I even have enough clothes that I won't have to wash clothes every other day.
Yes I have my long johns, wool socks (hand-knit of course), my winter boots, heavy wool coat, warm wool scarf and two pairs of gloves. I am armed with addresses of places to go when they are working and have 4 knitting projects with me. My Darling DH said I could buy anything I forgot. He has forgotten that Rene said that to Lisa when we went on a quilting retreat and she came home with a new sewing machine..................... YES she had forgotten her sewing machine................... Now he says "Are you sure you have everything"................................. LOL............................... I promise I won't bring home another sewing machine....................... I won't promise not to bring home more yarn or fabric.
I finished the fingerless gloves for my friend Margaret and the scarf for Aaron (DD's boy friend). Then I gave them away without taking a photo but I will probably see them again so I can take a picture for my records.
Jamie (other DD's boyfriend) has finally chosen what he wants and so has DD#1. Now if DD#2 would make a decision I would have a complete list. Instead of knitting something they might or might not wear I gave them each coupon's this year. The ones for the boys had a list of what they could pick but not the ones for DDs . The girls are to pick anything out of one of my books or magazines. Cory has chosen a twisted wrap which I will make out of hand-spun wool (charcoal colour).

The Pool hall

Well there were 6 of us at the pool hall tonight Knitting. Gail, Sharon, Kathy and Dotty were knitting socks. Laura was working on her sweater and I was working on a scarf. We were so busy knitting that it was 9:45 before we knew it. I have to make sure I am packed for Regina by next Wednesday so I can go to knitting as I won't be there the following week.
Well all was quite when I got home. There was a police car across the road but they are gone now. Don't know what was going on. Bill must have to work in the early morning as he is asleep and the beast (DGD with MAJOR attitude problem this morning)
is asleep on the hide-a-bed.
Wonder of wonders the dog didn't bark when I came in , Just came up to greet me then crawled back into bed with DGD.
I am up dating this now as Sharon was giving me static again but I don't have anything to exciting to say except I GET TO SEE MY SON NEXT WEEK.
GOOD NIGHT

new to me car

My Darling DH bought me a new car. At least it is new to me, 1993 Subaru wagon in white. It is very nice and Bill says we can paint it yellow in the future. Meanwhile I will have to put something on the antenna so I can find it in the parking lots. My old yellow Honda was easy to spot.
Shelby's first question to me was "When are we going to paint it yellow?" She has offered to help paint .................................. do you think I should take her up on that offer???????????? NOT.
Two weeks until I go to Regina .....................I can't wait. It has been 4 years since I last saw my son, my first born. I was feeling rather down around Christmas because I was missing my Family and then Bill gave me the trip to Regina . Maybe this summer I can see my brothers and sisters. My niece is getting married this month in Mexico but most of the family can't go due to the cost. My sister is planning to have something when they get back so hopefully I will get to that, meanwhile I need to write out some recipes for my sister to take to the shower.
I am going to go lie down now as I feel like I am getting a cold and I want to be healthy when I go to Regina. Will post photos of my new car tomorrow.

still...................

We still have snow and more is falling as I write this. My car is buried again but it doesn't really matter as all the locks are frozen and I can't get into it anyway, Had to borrow DD car yesterday to drive the oldest DGD home. This is more heavy wet snow that sticks to power lines and tree branches. Hopefully nothing breaks.
We have lost the plastic roof on the lean-too and the one on the green shed is threatening to collapse but one of the major problems is ............................................................I STILL HAVE NO BOOTS.
I did go shopping for boots but that was an exercise is futility .
1- Most of the boots have HEELS ............ I mean HIGH STILETTO HEELS ...................I can't even wear shoes with these heels anymore never mind wearing them in 2 feet of snow. I don't even want the square heels
2- Then most of the boots are knee high at least on most people ................... thigh high boots might be good in the snow if you could get them zipped up but it doesn't work for me..
3- THERE IS NO LINING IN THESE BOOST OR ROOM FOR SOCKS so even if your feet are dry they will freeze.
4- Then there are the odd pair that actually do have a lining, no zipper, do not come to mid thigh and no stiletto heels. I can't get my wide foot with the high arch or my thick calf into them.
4- so we get to the boots that might actually fit me......................... they look like something my Grandmother wore when she was 75. Don't get the wrong idea here ...................... I loved my Grandmother ............. I am already shaped like her I just don't want to dress like her. Back to the boots........... they are ankle high, warm, waterproof.................. oh yeah most of the above mentioned boots are not water proof and if they are they would crack in below zero weather. OOPS off topic....... sort of ........ again. Boots have a zipper and look like H%&^%&. They are no good in 2 feet of snow or 1 foot of snow or 6" of snow.
This means I am out in the snow in my water-proof clogs. So here I am in 2 feet of snow with clogs on ....................... They are green so fit in with the season but really they are no good unless I have shoveled the pathway to get out. You step in the snow and the clogs are................. FULL OF IT................ ( snow that is). Fortunately I have wool socks so my feet don't get cold ...... Just WET.
Looks like I will be shoveling again if we want to go any where. Fortunately we have lots of food, lots of wine and an abundance so yarn, fibre and fabric. The TV and the computer are still working so we are both happy. I think I will work on one of the shawls I want to make.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
