siggies

Well I have signed my self up for a Christmas siggy exchange. So far the number of people involved is about 137. That means I have to make 137 signature blocks by October ...............................I was thinking about signing up for the Birthday siggy exchange BUT DH said he didn't think I should sign up as I wouldn't have time for anything else. I have almost caught up on the international swap and need to do 10 blocks for Rosa.
I am knitting 2 pairs of socks and 2 shawls at the moment, have 2 shawl KALs to come .............................. I think things are getting out of control around here. Some body needs to mow the lawn and do the housework .................... any volunteers?

Is it really Thursday

I don't know what happened to the week ......................... it is almost over. Tuesday evening was Weavers and Spinner Guild meeting and I volunteered to be one of the membership people. Wednesday was Sock knitting at the Pool hall/coffee house. Only I think we may have to change the name ..... Gail and Sharon were knitting shawls, Laura was knitting her afghan, only Kathy and I were knitting socks. I discovered why DH socks weren't getting any bigger ....... I don't like knitting socks on 2 circular needles.I put the stitches on double pointed needles and they are getting bigger much faster. I guess I will put the other socks on DPs too. I have given the circular ones a good trial but I just don't like it. I will save the circular ones for my lace knitting.

I have another find to share. I picked up a sweater in the VV that is 88% silk and 12% cashmere. This is going to be used for the Goddess Knits KAL. It is lovely, soft and a rusty brown so I hope the colour fits the pattern.

I am still working on Clue one of the Slow Bee Mystery 1. I have to fix the mistake I made last night when I was tired.

Holiday

Well today is a holiday so DH isn't working but he has something planned with his buddies. I didn't get any yard work done this weekend or any seeds planted but I did get a batch of siggies ready to mail. I only have about 12 more to send as well as packages to go to 2 quilting friends. I actually feel like I am making progress on things , that is everything except the craft room ................ LOL .............. I may have to phone"Lisa The Organizer" for help.
I started my "Slow Bee Mystery I". We have 2 clues and I am row 15 of clue one. I am one of the SLOW Slow Bees

Here is my swatch. The colour is wrong as it is darker than shown.

Tests and Knitopia

Yesterday I went to the Dr. for my medication and thought I should talk to him about getting my pap smear done as it as been awhile. Turns out a while is 5 years.....................oops ................................ I told him time just seems to slip away on me. His comment "five years is more of a gallop" ................................. Okay so first he wants me to have these tests done. I have to fast for them so yesterday morning I get up (no coffee) and head for the lab (with my knitting). THREE vials of blood and then they want me to pee in this medium sized pill container. At least that's the size it looks to me. Now the MAN before me got a container that looks like a SMALL CUSTARD DISH with a lid ........................... what is with this. The ones that can aim get the wide container and the ones that can't get this pill bottle thingy .............................................. Is there some perverse logic behind this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can ANYONE please explain this to me??????????????????

Last night was fibre night at Knitopia. Four of us from the Wednesday Night Knitters went, Gail and Kathy bought new sock yarn. Sharon and I refrained but it was difficult. It was a fun evening and I did some knitting on DH's socks which never seem to get any longer.

Today I am going to do clue one of the Slow Bee Mystery ........... well I am going to start it. The day is warm and sunny so I want to get some yard work done. The back lawn needs mowing and Shelby wants to plant some seeds.

Photos of my Mystic Light shawl on my usual model. She was bribed to do this. I am letting her come to our house today instead of going to the airport with her Mother to drop someone off

more police and its finished........

Well Monday the police were back in full force. Apparently 2 men climbed in the window of one of the apartment across the way, tied the woman up and robbed her. We had 6 police vehicles here , some were watching the exits but apparently the bad guys got away as the dog handler arrived and tried to track them down. Don't know if they were caught or not. The local papers come out today so will check them............ Now Jill is having a fit because I am often home alone . She want s us to get a security system . I did tell her I would keep the door locked when I am inside by myself.

Well that was Monday's excitement .......... Todays is I FINISHED MY MYSTIC LIGHT SHAWL.................. It is blocked and drying on the back porch. I am very pleased with it and with myself. Now I only have 3 more to finish and two to start or is it three to start?
I still have 2 pairs of socks on the go as well as the baby quilt to finish. Then there is the BACK ROOM .................aaarrrruugh. Will I ever get it finished. I walk in there, look around, turn around and walk out. I need to go back to the 15 minute rule ........... and yes I made that rule which is part of the problem because I change it at will ..............LOL......... do you suppose that is why I don't get it done??????????

Police in the yard

Yesterday as I was knitting in the living room I noticed movement in the yard............... a policeman was walking through the yard. About 10 minutes later I see 2 police men sneaking through the yard and then behind the neighbours hedge. They seemed to be sneaking up on the house on the corner but I am not sure. Never did find out what was happening. ................... Jill said I should have gone out and asked them what was going on but she is nosier than I am.
I am still working on my Mystic light shawl but it gets closer to finished all the time.

Sharon is nagging me again

She says I need to up-date my blog so here I am. I didn't get to Wednesday night knitting last week as I was in emergency with oldest DD Cory. She had been carrying one of her day care kids, stepped off the sidewalk into a storm grate and twisted her right ankle badly. We thought for sure it was broken but it was very badly sprained. The Dr. said it is going to take 6-8 weeks to heal. Anyway we spent 4 1/2 hours in emergency waiting to find out the verdict. Fortunately we still had the crutches from the last time she hurt her ankle. We bought her an ankle brace which is allowing her to walk on that foot as she still has to work. .......................... children they move out but they never go away.............. LOL.. not that I want them to go away.
That same night DGD Shelby's half sister Justine (same father) had a baby girl by C-section. Mother and baby Avery Marie are both fine. The baby was 6 lbs, 11 ozs. with dark hair. We apparently are being called Great Grand Parents which is an honour.

Her she is Avery Marie.

Here are the proud parents with baby and one very pleased Aunt. Shelby asked her Mother to take her lap top to school so she could tell everyone she was an Aunt. This was her sharing day.

This is Shelby holding the baby's foot with Justine's hand under Shelby's . I thought the sizes were sweet.

Here I am with the three half sisters and the new baby. There are two very proud Aunt's in this photo.

I need to get busy and put her quilt together. I have the blocks done but not put together so I need to get my rear in gear. DH wants to wait and see what they don't get that they need.............. did that make sense. I have only had 1/2 a cup of coffee and it is 7:15 so I may not be awake yet. I know one thing ..............I can't type worth a darn.

I have made a tour of the second hand stores looking for various items.
!. a hutch for the sideboard or a small china cabinet.......... no luck
2. Knitting bags- found three
3. Sweaters for the yarn - found three but one isn't very good as the yarn keep breaking. I just love the colour though.
4. Heads and zippered pillow cases for Lynn- found one head

Michael's had a sale coupon for 25% off your entire purchase including sale items so of course I had to go. Came home with more beads. I did get beads for a shawl I am doing on the Slow-Bee-mystery so that was good. Also got some findings for more stitch markers ......................... not that I think my knitting group needs any more but they are fun to make and I seem to use a lot of them with the lace knitting.

DH went back to work on Monday so he is happier. He forgot to take one of his medications this past week so has been very sore and rather grumpy.
I talked to my DS on Sunday and he is well but working 12 hour days, 7 days so I won't go out to see him until this job is finished. I think he said it would be done the end of May. He is pleased as he is able to catch up the bills, etc.

ACCORDING TO SHELBY
Jamie (DD, Jill's boyfriend) was playing a video game and not doing well. When Shelby heard him say "Oh crap" her comment was" I would have said Horse dump".
Shelby and I were sharing my MP3 player when "Mack the Knife" came on. Taking the ear-phone out she looked at me and said " GRANDMA do you listen to this . ITS LAST CENTURY"

I can't think of any more news so I will sign off and go get another cup of coffee.
